Hi, Lifestyle Speakers! Today’s blog post is one I am particularly very excited about. I have a huge secret to tell you and trust me, your pocket and bank account will be sure to thank me for it afterwards. With Fall fast approaching, we college students, especially freshmen, are so excited (at least I am) to start college and start a new chapter of our lives. Sure our shopping lists include bedspreads and toothpastes but what about makeup?
Makeup can take a huge swallow off our college shopping list monetary budget (oh, I know). The first time I ever truly purchased makeup was last year and I got my things from, wait for it,…MAC! I know! I bought my foundation, lip liner, eyeliner, blush, an eye shadow pallet and a foundation brush and before I could blink twice, my very unpleased father (funny and long story) was paying over two hundred dollars. This year, going to college, makeup is obviously a must and I know that there is no way on God’s green earth, not after tuition, dorm shopping necessities and other things would my father be paying over three hundred dollars for a full face makeup from an high-end store. So, thinking, I took matters into my hands and decided that how can I save tons of money but still have all I need? You better click the “continue reading” button because it’s about to get juicy.
I got my makeup totaling $91.84 (under $100) for more than one day’s full face makeup -and this includes nails. College students know the struggle and importance of saving money and the nail budget, after a couple of weeks, can get lousy. So, today, I went to my local Dollar Tree, not Family Dollar, Dollar Tree and I bought ten nail polishes, including a nail hardener, for just $10.60! Gasp!
L.A Color polishes, I also got the nail polish remover. Let me just say, that everything at the Dollar Tree is a dollar, so, plus taxes which is six cent on every one dollar item (In Pennsylvania), I spent less than $13 on my nails. To just polish nails without a manicure or pedicure in my neighborhood is $15, but as a college student, I doubt I can spend $15 every other week (my father is not Bill Gates), so, buying these babies is such a huge save and I bet it can save you, too. The Dollar Tree has tons of nail polish colors and I went for the neutral colors because I really plan on going neutral on a lot of things. I don’t like colors (a huge discovery I had on myself!) and so I’m really trying to go with a lot of colors that match my dark skin tone, at least for the rest of the year to see how I like it. Though not pictured here, I also got a Nail Polish Corrector Pen to help me with the inevitable mistakes that’ll come from polishing my nails since I am not a nail tech expert and I tend to make a ton of mistakes when polishing my nails. The Nail Polish Corrector Pen is from Sassy + Chic.
I also went for mostly nude colors for my lips as you can see in the picture above and I got ten lip products including lipstick, lipgloss and lip balm and I am so excited to check those out and I’m also excited about watching them seating in my makeup organizer (Keep an eye out for a blog post coming on that!).
First of all, I’d like to apologize for the image qualities, still trying to save up on that camera (:P) I got my mascara, makeup pencil sharpeners, eyeliners and lip liner from the same Dollar Tree and as for the brow kit featured in this image, I got that from my local CVS.
I also got the makeup wipes from the Dollar Tree (which I’m seriously hoping doesn’t make me break out!). Let me know down in the comment section if you’d like a review, it is the Collagen Makeup Wipes! I also got that beauty blender from my local drugstore, CVS, for less than $5, I reckon.
Now to the big guys, I got the Maybelline Fit Me powder and I got it in the color, Mocha; their darkest shade. I’m really looking forward to using that in hopes that it matches my complexion smoothly. Also, I got the Maybelline Master Primer. I got it in the color, blur + Smooth as I’ve linked. Just click the underlined words to be linked to the product on Maybelline’s page. In addition, I got the Maybelline Master Conceal which I’m really excited to try out in the color Medium Deep, their darkest shade. I also added the Fit Me Foundation by Maybelline to my cart in the color, Mocha. To top it all off, I bought the Maybelline Master Fix Setting Spray, which cost me just $12.99. I spent just 50 bucks altogether on my Maybelline products from CVS and because I got all my stuff from Maybelline, I was surprised at the counter when Maybelline gave me FREE $15 to splurge on myself. Altogether, I feel like I got an amazing deal.
The main purpose of this post is to let you know that you don’t have to spend so much on makeup to look good. You can start small by budgeting yourself even if you still hope to build a huge makeup collection filling up a whole room and …(okay, I think I’m talking about myself now, lol!).
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you follow my blog to be the first to know when I upload again. It will be very soon and I have a ton of posts lined up which I’m so excited to show to you guys! Till next time, have a beautiful time and don’t forget to seize the day!
